Baseball Game Preview: Bennett Tigers vs. Jefferson Saints

Bennett is a perfect 9-0 against Jefferson since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Tigers will square off against the Saints at 4:00 p.m. Bennett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Saturday. Bennett fell just short of Sterling by a score of 7-6. The defeat continues a trend for Bennett in their meetings with Sterling: they've now lost five in a row.

Bennett saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Garner, who went 1-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run. Bennett is 2-1 when Garner posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. Diego Madera also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Jefferson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Platte Canyon 7-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Saints as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Guillermo Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrius Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 4-8. As for Bennett, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Bennett took their victory against Jefferson in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
