Basketball Recap: Gerstell Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against Loyola Blakefield

Gerstell Academy had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 70-52 bruising from the Loyola Blakefield Dons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Gerstell Academy of the 55-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Loyola Blakefield found their leader in sophomore Kaleb Haysbert, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Kane, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds.

Loyola Blakefield has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Gerstell Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Saint James at 5:00 p.m. on December 9. As for Loyola Blakefield, they will venture away from home to face off against Calvert Hall at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Dons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
