Softball Recap: Glenn Has No Trouble Against Wheeler

The Glenn Falcons got the win against the Wheeler Bearcats on Thursday by a conclusive 21-1. That looming 21-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Falcons yet this season.

McKenzie Timm made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Makayla Laskowski was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three). Makinzie Kline was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

Glenn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheeler only posted an OBP of .231.

Glenn is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Wheeler, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Coming up, Glenn will venture away from home to take on Tippecanoe Valley at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Wheeler, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
