Soccer Game Preview: Hammond vs. Dreher

The Hammond Skyhawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Dreher Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hammond is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals back in March, they were much more limited against Cardinal Newman on Tuesday. They lost 5-1 to the Cardinals. Hammond have struggled against Cardinal Newman recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Dreher ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past South Pointe 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Dreher were the better team in the second half.

The victory got Dreher back to even at 5-5. As for Hammond, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Hammond beat Dreher by a goal in their previous meeting back in March, winning 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Skyhawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
