Basketball Recap: Cole Brand's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hubbertville over South Lamar + How To Watch

After flying high against Brilliant on Tuesday, Hubbertville came back down to earth. The Lions took a 50-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Lamar Stallions on Thursday. The Lions were not able to make up for their loss to the Stallions from their previous meeting back in January.

Hubbertville's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Brand, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds. Brand is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Blaize Wakefield was another key player, putting up nine points.

Hubbertville's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for South Lamar, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hubbertville and Phillips will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. As for South Lamar, they will be playing at home against Gordo at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
