Franklin Community entered their tilt with Martinsville on Wednesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They put the hurt on the Artesians with a sharp 10-2 victory. Considering the Grizzly Cubs have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, Carsten Bland was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Ghent, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Franklin Community's win bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Martinsville, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Franklin Community beat the Artesians by a score of 7-2 on Thursday.
