Talihina had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Summit Christian Academy Eagles, posting a 62-28 win on the road.

Talihina found their leader in underclassman Landen Griffith, who rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 282 yards and five touchdowns. Griffith also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making five total tackles and defending four passes. Talihina also got help from Noah Lloyd, who showed off his sure hands for 104 receiving yards.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Talihina was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.

Talihina will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Non Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on September 19th. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Regent Prep at 7:00 p.m. on September 13th.
