Baseball Recap: Jenkintown Comes Up Short

Jenkintown extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-17 in the process. They came up short against the Delaware County Christian Knights, falling 18-2. The Drakes were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Logan Auxter was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Duffey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Delaware County Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

On Delaware County Christian's side, Nathan Burd looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Burd a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Beau Lyren was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Sam Dixon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Jenkintown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Delaware County Christian, they will square off against Plumstead Christian at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Knights have won four straight at home, while Plumstead Christian won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
