Cypress Ranch is a perfect 10-0 against Cypress Lakes since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Mustangs will host the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cypress Lakes will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Cypress Ranch extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Mustangs skirted past Waller 35-33.

Braden Baker had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 82 yards and one score on only seven carries, while also throwing for 191 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 82 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Peyton Thomas was another key player, rushing for 72 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cypress Ranch was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in five consecutive games.

Another reason for the win was Cypress Ranch's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Waller's QB won't forget Johnathan Long anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, while Cypress Lakes put up plenty of points on Saturday, the same can't be said for Cypress Woods. The Spartans took their matchup with ease, bagging a 36-0 victory over the Wildcats. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 36 points or more this season.

Cypress Ranch better keep an eye on Jimmy Alarcon. He was instrumental in Cypress Lakes' win, throwing for 271 yards and three TDs on only 17 passes, while also rushing for 38 yards and one score. Alarcon is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Theodis Fields, who gained 150 total yards and a touchdown.

The win got Cypress Lakes back to even at 3-3. As for Cypress Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Saturday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Baker and Alarcon. Baker just won't slow down this season and has thrown 18 touchdowns while averaging 229.5 passing yards per game. Alarcon has been a dominant force too and has thrown 17 touchdowns while averaging 216.7 passing yards per game.
