Baseball Recap: Havelock Takes a Loss

Havelock had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it six. They came up short against the East Carteret Mariners, falling 12-0. That's two games in a row now that the Rams have lost by exactly 12 runs.

As for East Carteret, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 22-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.1 runs this season.

For East Carteret's part, Tanner Wade made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Wade has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, Eli Jenkins was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sam Humphries, who earned three runs and three stolen bases.

Havelock has already played their next contest, a 6-1 defeat against Dixon on the 28th. As for East Carteret, they will host Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
