Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Moscow

Moscow had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They blew past the Lakeland Hawks 12-1. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Moscow got a great performance from Butch Kiblen as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). Kiblen also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Bears are 5-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Moscow's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Izzo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was JP Breese, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Moscow pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Moscow will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair will be back at it again later today.
