Baseball Game Preview: Arcadia Redskins vs. Bluffton Pirates

The Arcadia Redskins will head out to take on the Bluffton Pirates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Bluffton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Arcadia, who comes in off a win.

Bluffton will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Arcadia extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Redskins walked away with a 5-2 victory over North Baltimore.

Isaac Stoner made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Stoner was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colin Nusser, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Arcadia's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-10 when he doesn't). Owen Rader also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Arcadia hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Bluffton lost 8-2 to Columbus Grove on Thursday.

Bluffton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Speicher, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Bluffton has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Arcadia, their record now sits at 7-10.

Arcadia came out on top in a nail-biter against Bluffton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redskins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
