Game recap: Sequoia High School Football Team bests Menlo-Atherton

ATHERTON, Calif. - Saturday saw a surprise upset in California where Sequoia (Redwood City, Calif.) triumphed over Menlo-Atherton (Atherton, Calif.) 27-7.

The Cherokee were up 10-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Dylan Anderson in the second quarter.

Sequoia expanded its lead to 13 points entering the fourth quarter. SHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Anderson touchdown run.

The Redwood City school's standout player in the win was Anderson. The junior ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.

The Bears' Adrian Magana played well. The senior running back ran for one touchdown.



Menlo-Atherton's lone touchdown came on a 7-yard run by Magana in the second quarter.

The Cherokee had given up an average of 16.9 points prior to the contest. MA's seven points were well below its season average of 18.1 per game.

The loss comes after Menlo-Atherton defeated Woodside 21-10 last week. With the win Sequoia extended its winning streak to three games.
