Recap: Union Cougars vs. Grantsville Cowboys
The Union Cougars lost against the Grantsville Cowboys back in February of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Union took a serious blow against Grantsville, falling 74-30. Union has struggled against Grantsville recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Grantsville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Allred, who scored 19 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The contest was Allred's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Baylee Lowder was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Union has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Grantsville, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.
Union will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ben Lomond at 5:15 p.m. Hopefully Ben Lomond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Friday. Grantsville will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. Morgan will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Utah Rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Grantsville is ranked seventh).
