Basketball Recap: Vienna's Run of Four Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Vienna unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. The match between them and the St. Elizabeth Hornets didn't end well, with the Vienna Eagles falling 60-42. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Hornets are ranked 160th).

Defeat or not, Vienna got some senior leadership from Alex Zimmer and Waylon Lenning. Zimmer went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points and seven boards, while Lenning posted eight points and three steals. Lenning also put up a block, which washis first of the season. Elias Miller was another key player, putting up seven points and seven rebounds.

St. Elizabeth had a senior duo take command as Blake Wobbe went 9 for 13 en route to 23 points and five assists and Gavin Williams went 8 of 13 on his way to 19 points along with five assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wobbe has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Heckemeyer, who earned four points and nine rebounds.

Vienna's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for St. Elizabeth, their record is now 8-6.

Vienna has already played their next game (against Iberia), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. St. Elizabeth didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-57 victory against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent on the 20th.
