Baseball Recap: York Catholic Comes Up Short

York Catholic extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 5-13 in the process. They came up short against the Trinity Shamrocks, falling 11-4. The Fighting Irish were not able to make up for their loss to the Shamrocks from their previous meeting back in April of 2016.

York Catholic saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Latrechiano, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Trinity, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On Trinity's side, the team relied heavily on Garreth Calder, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Calder a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Groff, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

York Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity, they will be playing at home against Steelton-Highspire at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Steamrollers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.64 runs per game on average), something the Shamrocks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
