Baseball Recap: Millville Quakers vs. Northwest Area Rangers
Millville extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 9-5 in the process. They fell 8-4 to the Northwest Area Rangers. The Quakers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rangers earlier this season, when they won 5-1.
Shane Johnson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
As for Northwest Area, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.
On Northwest Area's side, Dominic Cavuto made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Coming up, Millville is taking a road trip to face off against Sullivan County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Quakers will need to watch out since the Griffins have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Northwest Area, they will host Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Rangers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
