Mt. Vernon had won eight straight games and Averee Swillum did her part to make it nine on Tuesday. The Mountaineers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Aurora Houn Dawgs thanks in part to Swillum, who had 11 digs and seven aces. She has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last three times she's played.

The final score came out to 25-7, 25-16, 25-8.

Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 18-6-2. As for Aurora, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.

Coming up, Mt. Vernon will head out to take on Cassville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Mountaineers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Aurora, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
