Volleyball Recap: Southwest Finds Playoff Glory Versus Palmetto

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Southwest had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Palmetto Panthers with a sharp 3-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 last Thursday.

Southwest got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. The final score came out to 25-16, 25-18, 32-30.

Southwest can attribute much of their success to Nelson Truiz, who had 26 assists and four digs. Those 26 assists gave Truiz a new career-high.

Southwest is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season. As for Palmetto, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-13.

Looking ahead, Southwest will square off against Miami at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Stingarees will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Palmetto does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
