Softball Recap: South Has No Trouble Against North

South and North faced off in a cross-town battle on Wednesday. The Spartans blew past the Saxons 14-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-6 on April 4th.

Hina Usuda was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Cacatian, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one double.

South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 8-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for North, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-20.

South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-3 defeat against El Segundo on the 2nd. As for North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-1 victory against Mira Costa on the 2nd.
