Baseball Recap: Smyrna Comes Up Short

Smyrna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 9-2 to the St. Mark's Spartans. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 7-1 to the Spartans when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Smyrna's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for St. Mark's, the win keeps they at an undefeated 9-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smyrna will take on Lake Forest at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for St. Mark's, they will challenge Caravel Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Buccaneers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
