Southern Connecticut Division I - East recap Sept. 26, 2012

Notre Dame's Cameron Tucker recorded the longest rushing play in Southern Connecticut Division I - East this season in his game against Lyman Hall last week. Tucker ran for 63 yards on the play and finished with 204 on the day as his team beat the Trojans.

Hand was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Tigers defeated Hillhouse 37-19 earlier in the week.

Wilbur Cross's dynamic duo of Matt Ricketts and Marcus Whittle proved tough for Law to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Ricketts threw for 124 yards and one touchdown and Whittle had 53 yards receiving. Elijah Long helped Wilbur Cross' passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.

On the ground, Notre Dame's Tucker has rushed for 312 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Ervin Philips. The West Haven star has two catches for 72 yards.

The marquee game in Southern Connecticut Division I - East this week will be the clash between Cheshire and Hand. The Rams comes into the matchup ranked 21st in the state, while Steve Filippone's team ranks fourth.

There should be lots of points scored when Tom Marcucci's team and West Haven face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Green Knights comes in having scored 49 this season, while the Blue Devils have scored 45. Notre Dame scored 49 points last week as it bested Lyman Hall.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Cheshire takes on the Tigers. Don Drust's team has allowed 23 points this season, while Hand has given up 32. The Rams allowed 0 points last week as they defeated Branford.

Cheshire was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating the Hornets 20-0. The Rams came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 33 last week.
