Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tayden Galton and Manuel Ortega Lead Ceres to Victory

After losing to McNair the last time they met, Ceres decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Ceres Bulldogs were the clear victor by a 67-41 margin over the McNair Eagles on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted since November 23rd.

Ceres was led to victory by Manuel Ortega and Tayden Galton. Ortega almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards, while Galton went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Pettigrew, who posted 11 points.

Ceres smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive contests.

Ceres moved to 4-7 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for McNair, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Ceres and McNair could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Ceres (ranked 766th) will meet Calaveras (ranked 362nd) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, McNair (ranked 781st) will meet Tracy (ranked 211th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
