Football Recap: Kaneland Runs Past Lemont + How To Watch

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Kaneland Knights beat the Lemont Lemont HS 42-37 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

Hayden Nowak went supernova, rushing for 221 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 58 receiving yards. Another receiver making a difference was Colin Ditmar, who picked up 43 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Kaneland was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 381 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lemont only rushed for 120 rushing yards.

Several Lemont HS players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mike Preuss, who threw for 240 yards and three TDs. Lemont's leading receiver Matthew Ciesla was Preuss' top target yet again, picking up 148 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Kaneland has also opened the season with a perfect 2-0 record. As for Lemont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Kaneland will head out on the road to take on DeKalb at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lemont, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Bremen at 7:30 p.m. The contest will give the Lemont HS their first taste of in-conference action this season.
