Taft has gone a perfect 10-0 against McFarland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Wildcats will head out to challenge the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Shafter hit Taft with a eight-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell just short of the Generals by a score of 10-8. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Cash Clark was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Clark was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Dylan Clark was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, McFarland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-4 to California City.
McFarland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Ortega, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.
Taft's record is now 7-13. As for McFarland, their record now sits at 7-11-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Taft has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like McFarland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Taft took their victory against McFarland when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1 score. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
