Basketball Recap: Cretin-Derham Hall Starts Season with Win at Home

Cretin-Derham Hall took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Two Rivers Warriors 81-49. The Raiders' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Leading Cretin-Derham Hall to victory were Ty Schlagel and Joe Mitchell. Schlagel dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards, while Mitchell went 6-for-13 on his way to 20 points and five assists. The matchup was Schlagel's ninth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Smith, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Cretin-Derham Hall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 82-42 win against Woodbury on the 9th. As for Two Rivers, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Como Park at 5:00 p.m. on the 27th.
