Basketball Recap: Village Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Village Christian Academy lost against Freedom Christian Academy back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Village Christian Academy Knights were beaten by the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots 98-40. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 593rd, while the Patriots are ranked 151st).

Leading Freedom Christian Academy to victory were Bryce West and Karsten Swinney. West dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds, while Swinney posted 29 points along with five assists and four steals. The game was Swinney's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Haidyn Bell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 boards and ten assists.

Village Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Freedom Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-8.

Village Christian Academy will venture away from home to square off against The O'Neal School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will square off against Northwood Temple Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 contests -- so hopefully Northwood Temple Academy likes a good challenge.
