Softball Recap: Harrison Central Snags Third Win in Last Four Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Harrison Central walked away with it. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Pearl Pirates on Thursday.

Gabrielle Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Harrison Central's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Braylee Watkins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run. That's the most hits Watkins has posted since back in February.

Harrison Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-16 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pearl, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-12.

Harrison Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
