Baseball Game Preview: St. Paul Catholic Falcons vs. Naugatuck Greyhounds

St. Paul Catholic has won six straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Naugatuck has won six straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Falcons will welcome the Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (St. Paul Catholic 1.5, Naugatuck 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times St. Paul Catholic and Oxford have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Monday. The Falcons came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 6-1.

Naugatuck came out on top against Pomperaug on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Greyhounds narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 6-4.

Lucas Ferraiolo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kevin Cestari, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Gonzalez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Naugatuck hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive games.

St. Paul Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Naugatuck, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
