Softball Recap: La Serna's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

La Serna came into Thursday's game having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the El Rancho Dons by a score of 8-4 on Thursday. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 8-3 win on April 8th.

Karina Torres tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Elissa Guerrero was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Lexi Avila was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

La Serna always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

La Serna's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for El Rancho, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8-1.

Coming up, La Serna will take on Cajon on Saturday. The Cowboys have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.86 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for El Rancho, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mark Keppel at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Dons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aztecs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
