Burns lost against Torrington back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Burns Broncs came up short against the Torrington Trailblazers, falling 77-55. The Broncs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.
Burns lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Shaw Martin, who posted 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds. What's more, he also posted an 80% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2023. Jace Franzen also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.
Even though they lost, Burns was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They racked up six more assists than Torrington's also-impressive total of 11.
Landre Greiman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Torrington, to rack up 23 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Torrington is 3-1 when Greiman posts 20 or more points, but 5-9 otherwise. Mac Hibben was another key player, en route to 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Burns' record is now 5-18. As for Torrington, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Looking ahead, Burns will take on Wheatland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Torrington, they will head out on the road to challenge Rawlins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Torrington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season.
