Softball Game Preview: Huntington Park Spartans vs. South East Jaguars

For the second straight game, Huntington Park will face off against South East. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Huntington Park has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.

Huntington Park lost 23-9 to South East on Wednesday.

For South East's part, Alexa Lopez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Lopez has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emily Ibarra was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Ruby Gonzalez was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

South East always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

South East moved to 4-9 with that win, which also ended their seven-game losing streak. As for Huntington Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
