Volleyball Recap: Smyrna Bulldogs vs. Lebanon Blue Devils
Smyrna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Lebanon Blue Devils. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
While Smyrna had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-21.
Somaia Jones paced Smyrna's offense, picking up ten kills. Jones got some help from Ava Francis and her 20 assists. Jones was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Smyrna's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Lebanon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.
Smyrna wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Lawson on the 22nd. As for Lebanon, they will face off against Wilson Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
