Softball Recap: Menendez Comes Up Short

Menendez and Clay squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Menendez had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 5-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 back in March.

Madelyn Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Rylan Degrande was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Aubrey Nemecek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Menendez now has a losing record of 10-11. As for Clay, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.

As of now, neither Menendez nor the Blue Devils have any future games scheduled.
