Softball Game Preview: Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns vs. Torrey Pines Falcons

Rancho Buena Vista and Torrey Pines are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rancho Buena Vista's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Torrey Pines' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Rancho Buena Vista hadn't beaten La Costa Canyon on the road since April 29, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Longhorns won by a run and slipped past the Mavericks 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Longhorns.

Rancho Buena Vista saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Nielsen, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits Nielsen has posted since back in March. Tiaira Richardson also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Torrey Pines entered their tilt with San Dieguito Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 5-1.

Torrey Pines' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Rancho Buena Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
