Softball Recap: Galesburg Silver Streaks vs. Sherrard Tigers
Galesburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Sherrard Tigers, falling 24-5. If the Silver Streaks were looking for revenge after losing 17-2 to the Tigers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Hannah Barton was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelin Guel, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Galesburg's record is now 0-14. As for Sherrard, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galesburg will challenge Morton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sherrard, they will square off against Riverdale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.2, the Rams 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
