Recap: Eastern Christian HomeSchool Trailblazers vs. Manteo Redskins
It was a good run, but the Eastern Christian HomeSchool Trailblazers unfortunately witnessed the end of their 19-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They fell just short of Manteo by a score of 42-39. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eastern Christian HomeSchool has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Eastern Christian HomeSchool saw an underclassman step up: Kaylee Ange scored 16 points. The contest was Ange's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bre Ange, who scored eight points.
Leading Manteo to victory were Sydnee Ballance and Jazmine Cooper. Ballance scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Cooper scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ballance has scored at least 25% of Manteo's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasiya Burton-Bailey, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Eastern Christian HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 16-1. As for Manteo, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.
Eastern Christian HomeSchool will be playing at home against John Paul II Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Manteo's road trip will continue as they head out to face First Flight at 6:30 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully First Flight focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Friday.
