Baseball Recap: Naugatuck Gets the Win

Naugatuck let Wolcott stack four runs on them in the fourth inning on Monday but luckily Naugatuck prevailed anyway. The Greyhounds walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in April.

Kevin Cestari spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on JJ Cruz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Colton Hofmann was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Naugatuck's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Wolcott, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-6.

Naugatuck does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wolcott, they will square off against Ansonia at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
