Baseball Recap: Goodland Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

It may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Goodland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Scott Beavers. The Cowboys' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

Kacen Sederstrom made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Goodland is 2-1 when Sederstrom allows one or fewer hits, but 6-7 otherwise. Sederstrom was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jared Quain, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Vonlintel, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Goodland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Goodland has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Scott, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Goodland will take on Wray at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Scott, they will venture away from home to take on Ellis at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Beavers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Railroaders have averaged an impressive 9.6 runs per game this season.
