Basketball Recap: Belleview Takes a Loss

Belleview lost against Lake Weir back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Belleview Rattlers lost 52-31 to the Lake Weir Hurricanes. While losing is never fun, the Rattlers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 315th).

Lake Weir can attribute much of their success to Antonio Jackson, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points. Jackson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Joshua Jackson was another key player, putting up seven points.

Belleview has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Lake Weir, they pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Belleview will take on Vanguard in a tournament on Tuesday. As for Lake Weir, they and Seminole will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
