It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stamford ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Norwalk Bears 6-4. This was payback for the Black Knights, who suffered a 6-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Benny Degrutolla was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Travis Fuchs, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Stamford's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Norwalk, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Stamford will take on rival Wilton at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Norwalk is set to face off against their familiar foe Greenwich at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
