Basketball Recap: Ontonagon Comes Up Short

Ontonagon lost against L'Anse two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ontonagon Gladiators were outmatched by the L'Anse Purple Hornets and fell 72-33. While losing is never fun, the Gladiators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 486th, while the Purple Hornets are ranked 174th).

Ontonagon has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for L'Anse, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Ontonagon will face off against Baraga at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Baraga will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Ontonagon surely won't give up without a fight. L'Anse has already played their next contest (against Dollar Bay), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
