Basketball Recap: Lackawanna Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Iroquois

After losing to Iroquois the last time they met, Lackawanna decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Lackawanna Steelers had just enough and edged the Iroquois Redhawks out 60-58. The win was all the more spectacular given the Steelers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 669th, while the Redhawks are ranked 203rd).

The victory made it two in a row for Lackawanna and bumps their season record up to 4-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two points across that stretch. As for Iroquois, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Lackawanna will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Global Concepts at 6:30 p.m. As for Iroquois, they will head out to square off against Cheektowaga at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
