Soccer Game Preview: El Modena vs. Tustin

The El Modena Vanguards and the Tustin Tillers will round out the year against one another at at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. El Modena will be strutting in after a win while Tustin will be coming in after a loss.

El Modena took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top against Esperanza by a score of 4-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Vanguards considering their one-goal performance the game before.

Meanwhile, Tustin came up short against Sonora on Monday, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Tillers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 779th, while the Raiders are ranked 286th).

Tustin's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-9-1. As for El Modena, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

El Modena suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Tustin in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Can El Modena avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
