Marietta hasn't had much luck against Eastern recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Tigers will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Marietta is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Warren hit Marietta with a five-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell 10-7 to the Warriors. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 22, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Samantha Mayo stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Chloe Harris was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Eastern made sure to put some runs up on the board against Federal Hocking on Tuesday. The Eagles blew past the Lancers 19-6. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Eastern got a massive performance out of Ashlynn Thomas 2027, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave Thomas 2027 a new career-high. Aedre Ault 2028 also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Eastern hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive matchups.
Marietta now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Eastern, their record is now 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Marietta has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Marietta might still be hurting after the 17-6 loss they got from Eastern in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
