Baseball Game Preview: East Wilkes Cardinals vs. North Stokes Vikings

The East Wilkes Cardinals will square off against the North Stokes Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East Wilkes is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

North Stokes will be up against a hot East Wilkes team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Cardinals were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over Avery County on Thursday.

Dalton Wood was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Aidan Childers, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, North Stokes didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Airy on Saturday and fell 5-3.

North Stokes' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-6. As for East Wilkes, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

East Wilkes came out on top in a nail-biter against North Stokes in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 10-9. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
