Baseball Game Preview: Hoffman Estates Hawks vs. Fenton Bison

The Hoffman Estates Hawks will square off against the Fenton Bison at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Hoffman Estates turned things around against Schaumburg on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Saxons 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted against the Saxons since May 17, 2021.

Tyler Dillon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Hoffman Estates saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luis Tobella, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Tobella also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fenton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top against Larkin by a score of 5-2 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Bison as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Fenton's victory bumped their record up to 3-15. As for Hoffman Estates, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-14.

Hoffman Estates took their victory against Fenton when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-7 score. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Bison have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
