Recap: Northeast Metro RVT Knights vs. Innovation Academy The Red Tailed Hawk
The Northeast Metro RVT Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 69-62 to Innovation Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Loss or not, Northeast Metro RVT got some senior leadership from Chris Zullo and Carmine D'Amelio. Zullo scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals, while D'Amelio. scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points D'Amelio has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Connolly, who scored six points.
It was another big night for Derrick Twum, who scored 29 points along with nine rebounds and five steals for Innovation Academy. That makes it three consecutive games in which Twum has scored at least a third of Innovation Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Kankam, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.
Northeast Metro RVT's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Innovation Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3.
Northeast Metro RVT won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Greater Lawrence Tech at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Innovation Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Mystic Valley Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Massachusetts (Mystic Valley Regional is ranked 196th, while Innovation Academy is ranked 183rd).
