Baseball Game Preview: St. Patrick Shamrocks vs. Lane Tech Champions

The St. Patrick Shamrocks will take on the Lane Tech Champions at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.

St. Patrick fell victim to Benet Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 7-0 to the Redwings. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Shamrocks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Lane Tech waltzed into their contest on Saturday with 22 straight wins... but they left with 23. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Dukes a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Champions, who have now won 12 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Charles Lust looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zolan Wyatt, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Matt Young, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Lane Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.
