Softball Game Preview: Hillside Hornets vs. Northern Durham Knights

Hillside is 0-10 against Northern Durham since April of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hornets will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Hillside has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hillside fell victim to Riverside-Durham and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Pirates, falling 23-0. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Northern Durham was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of East Chapel Hill.

Roxy Nelson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Eleri Herrera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Northern Durham's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Hillside, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hillside has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northern Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
